Some of the spy shots of the next generation Smart, which is expected to reveal late next year as a 2015 model it comes to the market in 2014. For this latest model the engineers of Renault and Smart together have developed a new platform in Renault Twingo Body.
This latest platform is used in the next generation Twingo by Renault, whereas in the new Fortwo and Forfoue models the automaker Smart will use this. The differences are made in terms of product design and size, although they are made from the same platform.
The unique rear engine is the basic characteristic in the latest platform, but the current Smart models use the concept of rear-wheel drive. For the 2015 Smart ForTwo model the automaker has plans to attach the same current models array of diesel for overseas users, electric and gasoline Powertrains. The average fuel economy of the the current vehicle is about 38 in highway and 34 in the city, but for the next generation model these figures have slightly fallen and offers similar milage with the latest vehicles like Chevrolet Spark and Scion iQ, which offers more interior space for passengers.
The 2011 automakers Forvision Concept represents the current styling of the latest vehicle, by expecting that in the construction of the next-generation models, much plastic is used for reducing the weight and contains wonderful styling.
The production of the four-seater model the ForFour and the latest Twingo is done in the Renault Plant in Novo Misto, Slovenia. Whereas in the Smart Plant in Hambach, France is responsible for the production of two-seater the ForTwo model.
Based on this latest platform the automaker Renault’s Japanese partner, Nissan is planning to launch a new vehicle. From 2013 onwards, the launch of these jointly made vehicles are planned. Which means the latest Twingo will be launched first, followed by ForTwo an ForFore.
